PPACA’s Annual Maximum Waiver

As we suspected, the Health and Human Services (HHS) has ruled on the annual maximums that are scheduled to go into effect on Sept. 23. Rather than delaying it across the board the HHS is requiring firms to submit a waiver form and then they “might” receive a waiver. Insurance companies can apply for the waiver on behalf of their customers. Without a waiver the plan can’t have an annual maximum of less than $750,000.00. Any waivers issued by HHS are effective for one year, after which new applications must be submitted.
